What to Wear for Christmas & Winter Sessions
Get your family photo-ready this winter with these easy outfit tips! We’ve worked with all kinds of families and couples, and here are some of our favorite style guidelines to help you look your best.
Be inspired by these outfit images!

Choose One Outfit
With your mini session being 20 minutes choose 1 outfit for everyone. Bring a jacket if it’s chilly to create comfortable layers and add a dynamic to your outfits easily.
Who could ever choose just one outfit? There is no perfect outfit to wear, the most important thing is to be comfortable and be yourself.

Looking your best during the session
Coordinate Don’t Match
Create timeless images that flatter everyone individually by coordinating colors and not matching.
Gone are the days of matching shirts. Choosing a pretty color palette gives everyone in your family a chance to choose the best color for them and an outfit style that makes them feel their best. Use coordinating colors to bring families together in a timeless way vs. being too “matchy-matchy”.

Color
Wear colors that reflect your personal style OR go neutral to create a simple and modern aesthetic. The landscape in the winter is deep green. Reds, Blues, and Golds are all complementary colors, so leaning in with those tones will elevate your images and give you a timeless style.
Keeping this in mind, I find that we all look our best-wearing color vs white or tan head to toe (except brides… but they are queens for a day)!

Shoes are important
We will be on the golf course, but not on the fairway, so you can wear heels. Being comfortable is very important, so we recommend flats, pretty boots, or a wedge or chunky heel.

Favorite Accessories
- Scarves
- Wraps or large shawls – especially in a cooler month, they are so cozy
- Vests – guys, add a vest and have a whole new look over a sweater
- Fun shoes – ladies, a fun POP of a bright or patterned shoe adds to an outfit
- Jewelry – statement jewelry can add a fun and festive pop!

Layer up
Taking a few accessories and creating layers can take a simple outfit and make it special and unique. Remember, being comfortable allows you to relax even more and be natural for your session. Consider warmer fabrics such as wool, velvet, thick stockings under dresses, and corduroy to stay warm and happy (especially kids).

Be prepared with a few “must-have” touch-up kit
- Lint Roller – animal lovers know, you can’t live without these. Bringing one helps to catch any stray hairs or random “fuzzies” you may pick up along the way.
- Extra hair and makeup touch-ups – To ensure you can maintain your hair and makeup look, bring a small touch-up kit if needed between outfit changes.
- Bobby Pins (you never know if we have a little wind, how these come in handy)
- Chapstick or lipstick – you know… love requires kissing so, you may need to touch up on lip products.
- Snacks for kids – we all need a little motivation at times. Bring snacks, drinks, or even little candies to help kids have a great experience, either at the end as a reward or a 5-minute break during the session.

Dress Code
Consider dress codes at specific venues, such as Country Club clients, most are denim-free environments. Please respect the location that is hosting your session. If you have concerns or questions, please ask!
