A gorgeous surprise proposal at the Hershey Gardens rose garden.
THE SURPRISE
I received the best phone call from Mary’s Mom sharing Christian’s plans to propose. With many scheduling challenges, it was a miracle that it all came together. One of Christian’s favorite places is The Hotel Hershey, with many childhood memories growing up. He wanted to share his love of the property with Mary. She loves roses and pink – so the rose garden at Hershey Gardens was the perfect place for the proposal!

After the proposal, we strolled through the rose garden for portraits and then had an extended engagement session at The Hotel Hershey.
They celebrated with friends and family in the evening at The Hotel Hershey – everything was perfect!
HOW TO PLAN
- Timing of booking a photographer: Schedule your proposal photography at least 2 months prior if you can. Many times rings take 2-3 months to select, size, and secure. When you start ring shopping and finalizing – book a photographer!
- Prepare some pampering: Often you want the bride to be surprised – BUT every girl wants a pretty and fresh look. Coordinate a gift of getting her nails done or even a professional makeup time. For this session, her hair and makeup were coordinated as a gift for the “family reunion” part she thought they were attending.
- Coordinate the exact location with the photographer: Christian shared Mary’s love of roses and pink, so I chose a specific location in the rose garden and sent them a map. You need to know exactly where to propose so the photographer can hide in a place where they can also photograph the moment.
